Srinagar – Ladakh Top Tips

Pangong Tso Top Tips

Spend some time gazing at the actual blue lake

Pangong Tso, such a humongous lake which covers almost 60% in China and 30% in India and can be reached in a five hour drive from Leh. A place which has become quite touristy on account of 3 Idiots shooting, with people posing on the bum chair and Kareena Kapoors scooter.

By an actual blue lake, I mean this lake is not a part of any river basin and hence there is no chance of salt outflow from the lake.

19th Aug | Leh:

Halt at Mermath – Do take a halt to see the Trans-Himalayan Mongoose, “Mermath” while going towards the Pangong lake. Also our driver was paranoid on a guy feeding banana, as stated by him that banana leads to their death.

Book your tent wisely – You can book a tent near the lake, if you want to enjoy the early morning view but also be aware that nearer to lake chillier it would be. One of the recommended one is Royal camp pangong, to stay near to the lake. Also meals should be savored in the tent itself.

Travel light – The greatest advice would be to carry minimum luggage in your car to make the driving easier for the driver. The heavier the car, more difficult it is to trace the rugged paths.

Journey to Pangong lake is surreal yet an inner peace of satisfaction. You tend to dip all your mundane worries into the blue lake and take back the refreshing memories of this place.
