We all tend to interfere in others’ life, knowing the story of others either to derive humorous tidbits or to pass it on to other folks for ease of socializing. But interference should not be to a level that you start defining your life with others good & bad times. Their good times should not define your bad time and vice versa.
And on account of storytelling to general masses to gain prominence among them, we tend to lie and add layers, suitable for more interesting narration. We tend to play Chinese whispers, where each of us adds layers to the story as per how we want the story to be. But believe me, taking hold of a lie can provide you solace for that moment and can lead you to a short pace but to achieve the light post in the long run of life, you need to be true, at least to yourself.
This Chinese whisper is termed as gossip by some or chitchatting by others. Anything you call it, for me it is a vicious circle, it starts with a single point with more circles you draw around it, the more vicious your mind becomes.
Sometimes all this interference that we do in others’ life is a distraction from focusing on our feelings and emotions. It becomes our tool to vent out frustration and other negative feelings. But this tool, rather than venting out the negativity, is inculcating more of it, which we are oblivious about at the start.
And by interfering you are not only creating barriers in others’ lives but also in your life as well. Barriers to thinking big in your life, barriers to handle situations differently, or barriers to doing things creatively.
But why do we base our life on others’ stories, is our life not giving us enough form of entertainment? This is because we have fixated our minds on mundane activities without trying anything new. We have lived to just going with the flow, rather than being the storm that can change the direction of the tide.
We should all take a break from what we are indulging in and do something different when we feel others life becomes the source of entertainment of our life. Trying something different can be being adventurous by trekking along the hill, or trying the relaxing way by practicing mindfulness meditation for some days, or immersing yourself in an interesting book in a nice discreet cafeteria.
