The journey to McLeod was not easy, but it was worth it. There were some scary moments involving travelling with strangers and frightening stalkers but the whole experience was surreal and much needed.
There was wonder in the first sight of the great Himalayas, the beauty of the snowcapped mountains extending far above what the eyes could see. The locals selling their wares or looking with kind wondering eyes, noticing their excitement and wonder. The great beauty beckoning & enthralling. The persecuted Tibetans had made Mcleod their home centuries back and were present in all streets & corners. This was evident in the customs & their culture, their artwork & landscape was a wonder to all eyes. Their monasteries and Monks in their orange & yellow ensemble present everywhere. The morning chants & prayers touched the soul and gave a mystical feeling to the place. This place turned out to be a paradise, the beautiful monasteries, and trekking narrow pathways to reach the famous Bhagsunag waterfall, eating Tibetan food and basking in nature added to its allure.
The Girls often wondered why their paths led them there, a place so surreal, so wondrous that it didn’t feel of this world. It changed them all in ways they couldn’t imagine, they felt the shift deep within their soul, which they couldn’t identify then but which they carried back with them and how this came to be but a small chapter in their amazing adventurous life.
